Abstract
Chemical equilibrium was allowed to attain at glass-solution interface of some lithium borate, sodium borate and potassium borate glasses of the compositions studied in parts I and II of the publication. The equilibrium pH value increased when the alkali content was more than 15 mole per cent. The results suggest that non-bridging oxygen ions appear in the structure of glasses as the alkali content exceeds about 15 mole per cent.
