Abstract
Ruby colour in glass is produced with gold, selenium or copper. Selenium is imported from Canada and other countries. Due to increasing demand and shortage of supply, its price is increasing. Now the move is to conserve selenium as far as practicable and reserve it for more important uses. Hence the production of ruby colour by selenium should be avoided. Copper ruby glass loses its colour during lamp working and it does not give such a variety of colours as gold.
