Abstract
Almost all the felspars investigated showed partial kaolinization. A/war soda felspar had the lowest softening point The Alwar felspars had a medium, the Nellore felspars a short and the Jh~nsi and Kodarma felspars a relati-vely long softening range. Tzvo eutectics, one in the binary system of 4lwar soda and Alzoar potash felspar ( 40% of the former and 60% of the latter ) and another in the binary system of Ahoar Soda and Nellore potash felspar (equal quantities of the tzoo) were observed. The blends of felspars when used in a porcelain body developed, earlier verification and greater strength, but their translucency was very poor. Trials on a low melting leadless glaze showed that the gloss of the glaze increased zvith increase of potash felspar in the blends.
