Thoria-10 Mole percent Yttria Powders

Abstract
A systematic study on the powder metallurgical aspects of thoria-10
mole% yttria system has been carried out. Powders of Th02-10
mole% Y20 3 compositions were derived by decomposition and calcination
of mixed nitrates and co-precipitated oxalates. They were
evaluated for their powder characteristics including crystallite size
and morphology, compaction and sintering behaviour. The microstructure
and oxide ion transference number of the various sintered
specimens have been evaluated.
