Abstract
The system CaS04-H20 is discussed particularly in relation to the controversial
hemihydrate forms and their physico-chemical as well as technological properties.
Dehydration studies of gypsum in a suitably designed rotary kiln under different conditions
were conducted and the dehydrated products, as characterised by the crystal structure
of hemihydrate have been reported. The role of partial pressure of water vapour on
the technological properties of dehydrated products has been elucidated.
