Although the ceramic industry is the largest consumer
of clays, refined clays find applications in various other
industries like rubber, textiles, paper, paint and printing
ink, chemicals and pharmaceuticals. The production
of china clay in the year 1959 was estimated to be
255,000 tonnes (Table I) of which 54,869 tonnes
were consumed by the paper, rubber, textile and other
non-ceramic industries (Table II). |
