Abstract
The flow behaviour of H-montmorillonite in dilute suspension has
been studied in presence of different sodium salts. The flow behaviour
has been observed to be influenced by anions of the electrolytes added
to the clay suspension. It has been postulated that anions affected the
hydrodynamic volume of the clay miceUe. The hydration of Na+ ion
and its geometry were also observed to be influenced by the anions.
