| Though the fabric of the planned programme
of industrialisation remains to be finally woven,
the government has provided adequate ideas
about the broad contours of the pattern it has in
mind to design. A more clear picture, however,
is yet to emerge out. Nevertheless from the recommendations
of the different committees, it is
now evident that increasing attention will be paid
to the promotion of ceramic industry particularly
in the small scale sector. In this paper, the discussions
are restricted to the following: (i) occurrence
of china clay deposits in West Bengal
and (ii) present status of R & D which can be
adopted to improve the quality of West Bengal
clays. |
