Abstract
During processing of raw materials in a refractory plant, the finest powders consisting of dusts are flown into air and cause pollution problems. To prevent health hazards, effective dust control system is essential in the plant. The paper deals with source of dust, its control and types of dust collectors generally in use in the industries. Dust control equipment for modern industrial applications normally consists of (i) electrostatic precipitator, (ii) wet scrubber, (iii) cyclone separator and (iv) bag filter. All these have been discussed briefly indicating their merits and demerits, operational aspects and limitations of application.
