Abstract
The constitution and mineralogy of Indian blast furnace slags were investigated. Chemical, petrographic and X-ray diffraction methods were followed. All the slags were high in alumina. Melilite was the most predominant mineral constituent in all the slags. Other minerals identified were diopside, spinel, oldhamite, enstatite, forsterite and monticellite. Varying proportions of glass were present in all the slags.
