Abstract
An indirect complexometric method has been described for rapid and accurate estimation of phosphate in ceramics and related materials such as opal glass, bone china, bone ash, rock phosphate etc. Phosphate is precipitated as zirconyl phosphate with a known quantity of Zr (IV) and the excess of Zr {IV) is back titrated with EDT A in IN nitric acid. Except fluorine, other elements do not interfere. Procedure for complete removal of fluorine, if present or introduced during opening of the sample, has also been described. The rime taken for the estimation ranges from 1! hrs to 3! hrs depending on the nature of sample. Introduction
