Abstract
SOME of the important factors favouring solid state reactions are the poor crystallinity, large surface area and intimate mixing of starting materials.1 All these conditions would be satisfied if the hydroxides of magnesium and aluminium could be co-precipitated in the appropriate proportion and used as the starting material to produce spinel (MgO.Al20 3).
