A note on Flame Photometric estimation of Rubidium
in Indian Lepidolite and Biotite

Abstract
Interference of lith£um, sodium and potassium on th,e intensity of flame
emission du:e ~o rubidium a~ 780 and 795,.1;. has been S:i~udied. The r:ff·ects of these
alkali ions on emission intlensitjy at l95mfl· are comparatively less and this! wave
length was therefor,e selected for flame photometric estimation of rubidirum in five
samples of Indian lepidolite and oM sample of biotite. The effects of t:he oth.er
alkali ions were compensat.ed by using simulated standard solutions containing the
same amounts of dkali ions as presewt in the test solution. Reproducibil~ty of
the result is within -+-0.02% and th,e time taken for a single estimation is nearly
three hours.
