Abstract |
The results of reheat shrinkage and apparent porosity measurements
on High Heat Duty (HHD) and Moderate Heat Duty, Group A (MHD,
Gr. A) fire-bricks, collected at this Institute during the period 1957 to
1961, ha1e been statistically analysed.
Results indicate that there is a scope for lowering the specified limits
of reheat shrinka,!;e to 1.0 and 0.5 for H H D and MH D, Gr. A from
the existing values of 1.5 and 1.0 as per IS: 8-1958 and IS: 6-1958
respecti1•ely. Whereas, the apparent porosity results do not demand any
change at the present state of affairs. The sample size for reheat test
appears to be too small considering the 1•ery wide range of observed values,
while that for porosity is in order as the range is mostly within +10%
of the specification limits. The samples, satisfying the limits of IS:
8-1958 and IS: 6-1958 when tested according to IS: 485-1953, having
arithmetical average of the results as the criteria of conformity, also satisfied
when tested as per IS: 1528-1962 gi11ing statistical confirmity criteria. |
