Abstract
Anorthite was collected from Sittampundi (Salem) and was used aLong with
limestone from S ankaridrug (Salem) and quartz in the preparatz~on of white cement
by single sintering at 1450QC. The cement produced is white in colour with a slight
greenish tinge due to the iron and manganese impurities present in the felspar. The
setting time of the oement conforms with the standard specifications and its curshing
strength is slightly less.
