Abstract
Composi, tzlons for eye protective glass filters have been developed for use in weMing and other industrial operations where the eye is explosed to ultra-violJet and infra-red radiations as well as to intense light and glare. The desz1re~d absorptvon characteristics wer:e obtained by using oxides of iron, nickel, cop, per, chromium and cerium and (he resulting glasses conform to the British Standard BS 679-1959. They are similar to the filters already in use. The g~asses dwetop1e1d for gas welding have the additional advantages of abs011bing the heat rays to a larger ,eXtent and of being made wholly of glass instead of conta~ning dyed plastic inter-layer.
