Abstract
MineraloRY and /:eneral properties of an altered sillimanite rock occurin,t; in Rewa, M.P. have been summarised on the basis of petro, graphy, DTA, X-ray, chemical analyses and other tests. The altered rock was identified as clay of krnlinitic compositi0n. lmpuritifS in the sample am.ount to about 4 p.er cent. The probable mode of origin of the sample has been shown to be due to combined effect of weathering and hydrothermal mineralization with boric acid uapour in{lun1cin.t; the reactions. Geological support wa.r drawn from Dunns fiPld invntigation.
