Abstract
1he natur·e of impm·ities associatetl with china clays and the principles in1•olved in the selection of a suitable p1·occss for comme?·cial beneficiation of clays to eliminate such impw·ities are discussed. Fundamental considemtions -in pr·ocessing and the sequence of opemtions have been examined in detail. A review of the clay purification methods which are in use at present in England, Ger·many, Ame1ica and Indi(l has been given. In connection with clay pr·ocessing in India, some of the defects obseTved in the C01.t1se of studies on Indian clays at the Institute and the steps contemplated to r·emedy them and to improve the qnrtlity of domestic china clays have lwn desm·ibed.
