| Abstract |
| The glass shell industry in India came into existence with
the advent of the Second Wo1ˇld Wltr and cluri11g the pendency
of the War three facto?ˇies came in production. The
installed capacity at p1ˇesent is more than the demand and,
quantum of production is not fltr slzo1ˇt of demand. Methods of
production in all these facto?ˇies are manual. Installation of
mechanical units is only fustified when the demand has
increased considerably. The quality of JWOcluction is ,qood
enough for thd present d:~,y lamp mannfactU?ˇing nwcllinery
operating in India. All the th1ˇee factories are owned by
lamp manufacturing unde?ˇta;cings. A few attempts lwve been
made by glass factories not attached to a lamp factory to
manufacture glass shell,, without l!ucce.~s. The industry has
