Abstract
The prosperity of any country is largely based on
its industry and the prime need of any industry is
power. The practice of generating electric power
locally is gradually giving way to the bulk generation
in large thermal or hydro-electric units, which
are being built to meet the increasing demand of the
industry. For transmission of power to the consuming
centres with a minimum loss, electrical insulators
of appropriate qualities have to be used. '•
