| The term "ceramics" as used at present may cover a very
wide field indeed. In the Cnited States it is used in a very
comprehensive sense so as to include pottery, structural
ceramics, refractories, insulating m:tterials, glass, enamelled
metals as also cements, limes and plasters. It is, however,
not my intention to cover all these. I shaH confine myself
to glass sands and to various types of clays. As even
this is quite a wide field to cover in a short address, I can
only attempt a summary of the available information on the
more important deposits in this country. |
