| Abstract |
| The dispersion behaviour of Si + SiC (3 : 1 by weight, 3Si.SIC)
mixtures in deionised water was examined as a function of pH
by studying their sedimentation and rheological behaviour. An
aqueous slip of 72 wt% solid loading of 3Si.SiC was cast to
produce green bodies having -65% of theoretical density which
when nitrided resulted in SiC particle reinforced reaction bonded
silicon nitride (SiCp-RBSN) composites. The products were characterized
for percent nitridation, nitrided density, apparent
porosity, microstructure and 3-point flexural strength. |
