| Nanosize (< 50 nm) barium hexaferrite (BaFe110 19) has
been prepared by solution combustion method using ferric
nitrate, barium nitrate and hydrazine based fuels like
oxalyl dihydrazide (ODH), malonic acid dihydrazide
(MDH) and maleic hydrazide (MH). The formation of
BaFeu019 has been confirmed by its characteristic powder
X-ray diffraction pattern. The nanosize nature of
BaFe120 19 particles has been determined from X-ray line
broadening, Mossbauer spectrum, BET surface area
measurements and Transmission Electron Micrographs
(TEM). The variation of magnetic properties of the
powders with sintering temperature and particle size has
been investigated. The He and M, values are in the range of
500-1600 Oe and 25-45 emu/gm respectively. Microstructures
of the sintered specimens show grain size in the
range of 2-6 J.Lm. |
