Abstract
The structures of Te02 and Li20-LiCI-Te02 glasses have been investigated by means of Raman and 125Te :VIAS :\'MR spectroscopy. Extremely large isotropic chemical shirts of 1500- 1700 _ppm and linewidths of 1611-2311 kHz were obsened in the 125Te MAS :\MR spectra of both Te02 crystals and TeO,-hascd glasses, indicating that Te atoms in Te04 or Te01• 1 pol,\ hedra in oxide crystals and glasses have ver,\ low symmetry mainly due to the presence of a lone pair of electrons. The Raman spectra revealed that pure Te02 glass has a network structure simila1· to that of u-Te02 rather than li-Te02 • The present Raman and 12Te MAS ~MR spectra also confirmed that not only Li,O hut also LiCI modifies the Te02 glass net\10rk, forming Tc03 trigonal pyramid.
