Abstract
Investigations were carried out on the effect of dopants on the sintering behaviour of high alumina ceramics. The dopants were Ti02, Sn02 and (Ti02+Sn02). The effects of different dopants, viz. 1, 3 and S wt% of Ti02, Sn02 and (Ti02 1-SnO,) on the sintering of alumina were studied at various temperatures (1300°, 1400°, 1450° and 1600T) and soaking times (10, 30, 50, 100 and 150 mins). The study revealed that 5 wt% of (TiOd-SnO,) gave the maximum densification at 1600°C and 150 mins soaking period.
