Abstract
Laser beam machining is presently an widely used technique at the industrial level. Among the various operations, drilling with the help of laser beams has assumed great significance. In this paper, the fundamentals oflaser beam driUing, the factors affecting accuracy and reproducibility of laser beam driUing, and the consequent development of suitable techniques have been discussed briefly with special reference to high temperature ceramic products. The suitability of multipulse laser beam driUing technique (MPT), a technique considered to be the most suitable for driUing of high temperature ceramic products, has been critically reviewed.
