Abstract
In West Germany, several plants are manufacturing only monolithic refractories like ramming masses, gunning masses, cements, concretes, mortars, castables, kits etc. The uses of these monolithics are increasing considerably in Europe. They are considered easy in application and economic in performance. They are distinguised from one anoiher by their basic raw materials, binding and application. They are produced by dry, semi-dry and plastic processes. Dry products have no moisture. Semi-dry products contain moisture up to 6% and plastic masses up to 12-13%. Other than moisture content, grain size, binders and mixing are very imporiant for manufacturing high quality monolithics.
